Romeo + Juliet - Raging Bull
Romeo-Juliet

“Raging Bull” is a cinematic and experimental project, a 14-song album that remains strangely coherent and unique despite its eclectic mix of influences. It features influences such as Blood Orange, Leon Bridges, and Marvin Gaye, along with danceable synths reminiscent of Kaytranada, and clever, nuanced songwriting reminiscent of Frank Ocean's ethos. The standout track, "King David," illustrates the story of its namesake subject, a multilateral narrative highlighting the boundaries of love, passion, and struggle. Much of the album delves into these themes, often finding catchy melodies that somehow encapsulate complex emotions. A project of such polished quality and inspiration is nothing short of a unicorn in today's landscape of short, digestible musical consumption.

Sizzla - Praise Ye Jah

Praise-Ye-Jah

"Praise Ye Jah," the third studio album by legendary Jamaican reggae singer Sizzla, celebrates its 25th anniversary with a complete remastering and reissue enriched by the IRIE ITES studio, using tapes entrusted by XTERMINATOR. Released on October 21, 1997, under the Xterminator label helmed by Philip "Fattis" Burrell, this album marks Sizzla's promising debut, emerging in the reggae scene alongside renowned artists such as Luciano and Ini Kamoze. With his radical style inherent to the Bobo Ashanti Rasta congregation, Sizzla communicates an unparalleled joy of life and black pride, carried by his unique voice and style. Tracks like "Praise ye Jah," "Cowboy," "Inna dem face," "Hail Sellassie," and "Dem a wonder" have now become genre classics, capturing the very essence of contemporary reggae.

KUSS - Stuck in a Dream

KUSS

"Stuck In A Dream," a project by the versatile artist KUSS, presented by the label and collective Agora Records, delves into the depths of the subconscious with its titular track. Inspired by the Greek deity Hypnos, the god of sleep, KUSS's composition transports listeners into a state of psychedelic trance, caught between the realms of consciousness and unconsciousness. The album features three original tracks that complement each other perfectly, along with a collaboration with the French techno artist Mac Declos. Additionally, remixes by renowned artists JKS and Antigone add an extra dimension to the project. With its powerful and hypnotic sound, "Stuck In A Dream" invites listeners to explore the mysterious landscapes of their most intimate dreams, creating an immersive musical experience.

Monster Florence - Master System

Monster-Florence

Hailing from Essex, the hip-hop/rap group Monster Florence, consisting of six members, officially formed in 2015. They are as much rappers as they are musicians, with a raw melodic production drawing from a multitude of influences and genres such as punk, indie, and psychedelic rock. Each member brings a dynamic and unique creative flavor to the group, ensuring that their sound remains original, fresh, and distinctly unique. "Master System" not only explores the world around us but also seems to be a quest for their own identity amidst it all, showcasing the strength of this unfairly underrated group, capable of blending genres with striking authenticity.

Léo Ferré - Vinyl Story

L-o-Ferr

Léo Ferré, equally a poet and a musician, challenged the norms of post-war chanson with his rebellious spirit and boundless inspiration. Confined to the cabarets of the Parisian "left bank" due to his unconventional appearance, this Monégasque nevertheless reached a wide audience through interpreters like Catherine Sauvage. From the 1950s to the early 1960s, this anthology traces his ascent, marked by an uncompromising style, leading him to the grand stages of music halls such as Bobino, Olympia, and Alhambra. For fifty years, he embodied a continuous creative force, becoming the indispensable poet of the second half of the twentieth century, sporting an authoritarian anarchist tendency.

Joy Division - Live At Les Bains Douches / Paris December 18 / 1979

Joy-Division

Joy Division, one of the most significant bands in post-punk English rock, has left an indelible legacy in the history of music. Their haunting music, tinged with melancholy and intensity, evoked the dark atmospheres of the Velvet Underground and the Doors, while bringing a unique touch with innovative synth use. Formed in Manchester, the band experienced rapid ascent before the tragic loss of their leader, Ian Curtis, to suicide. Their legendary performance at the Bains Douches in Paris in 1979, immortalized in a now iconic radio recording, testifies to their artistic impact and enduring influence on the music scene. Their track "Disorder" remains a symbol of their uniqueness and artistic depth.

Chet Baker - Jazz Pearls

Chet-Baker

Chet Baker, the jazz icon with a fragile tone and enchanting trumpet, has left an indelible mark on music history with his captivating interpretations of "My Funny Valentine." Originating from the Broadway musical "Babes in Arms" by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, this piece has become a timeless classic. In this album, Chet presents two unique versions of this emblematic piece, sometimes vocalized with poignant sensitivity, sometimes instrumental, where his trumpet evokes an ineffable tenderness. Beyond "My Funny Valentine," the album also resonates with great jazz standards, all transformed by Chet Baker's musical genius, securing his place in the pantheon of jazz legends. "I Fall in Love Too Easily," another gem from the album, showcases Baker's profound emotional sensitivity, capturing the essence of love and vulnerability through his voice and trumpet.
