God Street Wine’s final album of the 90s, Hot, Sweet, and Juicy, was recorded in 1998 but never released until 2024. The making of the album saw GSW in the midst of record company difficulties and personnel changes, as Tom Osander departed and Aubrey Dayle (drums) and Pete Levin (keyboards) joined the band. Working for the second time in two years with producer Bill Wray, the band put together one of its most funky and melodic albums with originals contributed by all the band members – from new material like “Beautiful Lies,” “8 Ball,” and “Slinky” to earlier compositions like “When She Go” and “Epiphany.” The recordings circulated in rough mix form over the two decades following GSW’s breakup, until in early 2024 the band decided to finally release them officially. Here they are presented remastered for vinyl with original cover art by Coney Island circus artist Marie Roberts.
Formed in 1988 by Lo Faber, Aaron Maxwell, Dan Pifer, Jon Bevo, and Tom Osander, God Street Wine played a prominent role in the early jam band scene alongside fellow New Yorkers Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors. Veterans of the HORDE Tour as well as runs with The Allman Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and The Black Crowes, they also released 5 albums and performed more than 1,000 shows across the United States in their first decade together. Since splitting up in 1999, the band has reunited for numerous shows and released new recordings over the years, including the full length album This Fine Town in 2019. God Street Wine is excited to finally release 3 albums from their catalog on vinyl!
