$1.99 Romances was God Street Wine’s major label debut and third full length album. Having inked a deal with Geffen Records, the band first demoed over 40 potential songs in their Westchester, NY house – then, when those had been narrowed to 14 songs, decamped to Memphis, Tennessee, where they spent five weeks with legendary producer Jim Dickinson. The result was GSW’s most popular album including such familiar nuggets as “Princess Henrietta,” “Imogene,” “Molly,” a rearranged “Nightingale,” and the epic closer “Into the Sea.” Remastered and resequenced for vinyl, $1.99 Romances is a piece of 1990s rock history.
Formed in 1988 by Lo Faber, Aaron Maxwell, Dan Pifer, Jon Bevo, and Tom Osander, God Street Wine played a prominent role in the early jam band scene alongside fellow New Yorkers Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors. Veterans of the HORDE Tour as well as runs with The Allman Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and The Black Crowes, they also released 5 albums and performed more than 1,000 shows across the United States in their first decade together. Since splitting up in 1999, the band has reunited for numerous shows and released new recordings over the years, including the full length album This Fine Town in 2019. God Street Wine is excited to finally release 3 albums from their catalog on vinyl!
