ALEXANDRE DESTREZ aka RIVE GAUCHE
1995 was the first time Alexandre Destrez’s keyboards were heard on the album Boulevard de St Germain (F com), « Boulevard » elected Best «Dance» Album of the year by the UK press then the album "Tourist" (Blue Note), which sold 3 million copies throughout the world, rated N°1 jazz sales when is came out in the US and awarded 3 Victoires de la Musique in France.
 
Alexandre also collaborated with numerous artists on the French electro scene such as Shazz (Album nominated for the Victoires de la Musique), Dimitri From Paris, Martin Solveig (Album « Hedonist » nominated for the Victoires de la Musique), Oscar, Yass … 
 
And with Pop artists such as Overhead on Silent Witness album (ffff Télérama).
 
Today, Alexandre is carrying on with this Electro Jazz adventure with the first release of RIVE GAUCHE EP + Gilles Peterson & Simbad remixes the 26th of February 2016 on BBE Records (London).
 
He is backed up by his childhood friend, the DJ producer, David.H ( from OSCAR, ALABAMA 65 ... ) for composition, beats and arrangements, as well as by jazz musicians each with their own talents.
 
RIVE GAUCHE is a continuation of the « Saint-Germain-des-Prés » spirit with its very particular French Touch !

Walking ... EP

Amis de longue date, les premiers pas musicaux des membres du duo Haje se font par la pratique d'instruments acoustiques. 
Puis, Tom Lemann et Quentin Danos développent chacun de leur côté un goût prononcé pour l’électronique et finissent par se réunir pour former le projet Haje. 
De leurs recherches sonores, mêlées à leur maîtrise des instruments classiques naît une musique électronique inclassable, empreinte des grooves nocturnes du UK garage et de rythmiques à mi-chemin entre house et 2-step.

Now let's talk a little bit about the artists:

ø Chayeb Chbab

He is originally an Algerian MC from Alger known as Diaz, founding member of MBS, author of 5 albums including the classic Le micro brise le silence, released on Universal in 1999. 

ø Geraldo Pino

Geraldo Pino, who unfortunately died in 2008, was the only artist who scared Fela Kuti by his fame and style. Idolized in Africa during the 60’s and 70’s, he has been inspired by the founding father of funk, James Brown. This track is extract from the original vinyl Boogie Fever which can be sold up to 5000€!

ø Last Bongo In Paris

It's a Parisian duo composed by Cléon, former graffiti artist, DJ Battle expert and hip-hop dancer, and Jazzy Pidjay, beatmaker and long-time sound engineer. They are soul-funk and Brazilian music lovers.

ø Doc Strange / The Doom Brotherz

He is an English beatmaker. Influenced by Stones Throw, Mellow Music group, he picks his samples in the 60‘s/70’s soul and jazz. The winner of the contest, L. Boy Jr. has his remix pressed on vinyl. Still an exclusive title.

ø Janko Nilovic

Born in Istanbul in 1941, Janko Nilovic is a composer for more than fifty years. He was noticed for his «illustrative» tracks in movies and documentaries. Sampled by Dre, Jay-Z, to name but a few, Janko is a key French musician.

ø 47Soul

Natives of Jaffa, Ramallah, Amman and Washington, those four friends invented a genre named «Shamstep». Through conscious lyrics and various languages, 47Soul conveys a peace and freedom message using guitars, analogic synth and revolted beats. 

ø Quiet Dawn

Signed by the brilliant label First Word Records, Quiet Dawn was spotted during a Boiler Room in London. He combines perfectly different genres, from Hip-Hop, to Deep House and Nu Jazz, as a beatmaking chemist. This Garonne remix, in an exclusive short version, comes from his remix album The First Day Remixed.

ø Sa’Bat Machine & Tam Ly

Sa’Bat Machine is a French self-taught producer who is especially signed on Kiosk Records, Six Degrees Records or Hadra Records. His music is a fusion of jazz, early dubstep and bass music, influenced by his Reunion origins. 

ø Ahmed Malek

Said to be the Algerian Ennio Morricone, Ahmed Malek was part of the making of numerous cinema soundtracks. Born in 1931, he died in 2008. He had a strong interest in new technologies in music, creating the bond between traditional Algerian music and modern sonorities. This is an exclusive title, with Habibi Funk’s kind authorization.

‘Ceremonial’ is the second full album on Tru Thoughts from much-feted electronic artist Anchorsong - AKA Tokyo-born, London based musician Masaaki Yoshida. The album brings a richly textured tapestry of outward-looking sounds, blending modern and retro music and treading new ground with tribal rhythms fitting in seamlessly with all the wizardry you would expect from a first class 21st century composer.

Wicked Jazz Connection is a project of the Amsterdam-based platform Wicked Jazz Sounds.
The project really is about just that: connections. Traveling between many musical styles, countries and influences, the band takes you on a journey that spans funk, soul, jazz, afrobeat, house and hiphop. Fronted by the gorgeous and charismatic Berenice van Leer and backed by unstoppable forces Baraka G on keys, Norman Kapoyos on guitar & vocals and Leroy Rey on beats and electronica.

Their selftitled debut album was released on CD in April 2014.
We will release it on vinyl for the first time as a 12" with 4 tracks plus a previously unreleased remix and DJ-edit.
It features collaborations such as: Bootie Brown (The Pharcyde) and Ursula Rucker (The Roots, 4hero and King Britt).

Hypothesis EP

 
Following their Bossa Nova infused Dilla tribute on 7-inch vinyl, Les Cooles de Ville
returns with their first EP on wax and digital formats. Collecting their songs from 2015 and 2016 the Amsterdam based outfit, showcases their travel and explorations into their own unique euro-centric sound. Based on the principles of the Native Tongues and the Soulquarians they craft soulful, laidback and jazzy hip-hop  evoking feelings of summer sunsets, small gatherings of people, Soul-food and inner-city living. It’s easy to hear the influences of early De la Soul and Common on some of their songs,  while others would fit in the LA Beat scene of Flying Lotus or in the more introspective landscape of Nujabes . Overall a pleasant listening experience for the moments you need a more subtle but still energetic soundtrack to your life.

Colourful Shores EP (24th of February 2017 on Animal Records) unveils a parallel universe of sanctuary and adventure, layered in texture and universality. With its core focused around improvisation and analogic vibe, the feel of this record is incredibly spontaneous. The acoustic nuances mesmerize and hypnotize. It dances through the body and reaches out for the other. Together in rhythm beyond the holds of space and time: catharsis.

Colourful Shores

C’est l’incroyable voyage des Cheaper Shepherd, artistes et producteurs français, à New-York, pour enregistrer Cans, un MC new-yorkais. L’aventure commence l’année dernière après une prise de contact 2.0 sur soundcloud et quelques échanges d’e- mails. Un morceau plus tard, l’entreprise est malheureusement avortée, faute de moyens. De nouveau, une fervente batterie d’emails
amorce la composition d’un EP entier pour Cans.
Après quelques A/R, des tentatives d’enregistrement à distance, un crowdfunding épique (et réussi - merci à tous) et quelques autres péripéties, les deux producteurs s’envolent pour rejoindre Cans dans son fief, Poughkeepsie - dernière gare en partant de NYC - Vous l’avez compris l’aventure se passe dans le Corbeille-Essonne de l’état de New-York.
Après deux jours, l’EP est terminé. Loin de s’arrêter à cette première victoire, ils s’enferment avec Cans et D-Johns pendant une semaine afin de continuer à produire. D’un 3 titres, ils finissent avec un album complet entre hip-hop old school et house, trois clips et une série de mini reportages tournés tout au long du voyage.

Kacem Wapalek, c'est un flow parfaitement maitrisé et des textes illustrant une imagination fertile, ponctués de jeux de mots habiles.
Tour à tour parolier interprète et compositeur, Kacem délivre sa prestation d’une manière courtoise mais complexe, attachante et touchante comme savent le faire ces artistes totalement habités par leur art.
Il officie dans le milieu du hip-hop français depuis plus d'une dizaine d'années et sort son album « Je vous salis ma rue » en Avril 2015.
Il démontre par ses interprétations, une flexibilité artistique rare s'inspirant de l'univers jazz et groovy.

Des chansons de Serge Gainsbourg, l’auteur compositeur interprète majeur de la chanson française du XXème siècle, captées par et pour la radio sont reproduites ici sur vinyle. Du fameux Club d’Essai en 1958 aux Discoparades (1961 et 1962), Gainsbourg a toujours su trouver un mot pour annoncer ses chansons. On l’entend également interpréter une valse de Chopin au piano ou répondre avec beaucoup de timidité aux questions de Juliette Gréco qui l’avait repéré en 1959. Certaines de ses chansons sont déjà délicieusement coquines ou à double sens et pour la plupart, il s’accompagne au piano.

Songs from Serge Gainsbourg, the most iconic french singer-songwriter-composer of the twentieth century, recorded for and by the radio, now edited for the first time on vinyl records. From the well-known Club d’Essai of 1958 to the Discoparade shows of 1961 and 1962, Gainsbourg always found the right words to introduce his songs.
We can also hear him performing a waltz from Chopin on piano or shyly answering to Juliette Gréco’s questions, who had discovered him in 1959. Some of his songs were at that time already slightly naughty or equivocal.

From the Olympia stage at the end of 1961 to the Discoparade show in the beginning of 1962, the Radio recorded Dalida’s first public recitals. These yet unreleased live versions captured Dalida’s vitality and musical energy during her very first debuts performing on stage.

Ray Charles, at the top of his art in 1961, henceforth referred to as Genius Ray, organizes his first european tour, meeting this new public for the first time. This vinyl record showcases a selection of his best tracks, duly remastered.
The audience gives a standing ovation to Ray Charles, his orchestra and the Raelets choir and one can feel the electric atmosphere all along the two sides of the record.
Concerning the 2 tracks "My Baby" and "What'd I Say", these are bonus tracks. They come from a live in 1962 in Stockholm.
