January 2023's Selection

Jan 3, 2023

For this month of January, sweetness is the key word of our selection, for a smooth start in 2023

This month, we suggest you discover the psychedelic and bewitching notes of Mord Fustang, or the melodious voice of James Chatburn on a Soul background in Late Night Howling. Are you in a nostalgic mood? The Tom Sawyer soundtrack will remind you of your younger days. You can go back even further in your memories by listening to the works of Henri Salvador, who graces our Live in Paris collection. Lionel Hampton also gives rhythm to this January selection, with his greatest classics gathered on two vinyl records. Finally, Zoxea is here to delight fans of old-school rap, with old-school beats, just the way we like them!

You can still find more than 120 other vinyls in the extended selection! 💿🎶

Mord Fustang is a young Estonian DJ who revives the electro scene with a universe of his own. Indeed, Mord Fustang brilliantly mixes atypical and soaring sounds, fitting in an alternative and varied genre. For the moment, no melody resembles those that punctuate the album PERFECTLY IMPERFECT, but we can imagine the arrival of new talents who will be inspired by the works of the young Estonian, because the DJ offers an innovative perspective for the Electro House.

Late Night Howling - James Chatburn

A beautiful voice, along with a piano, on a background at the border between Soul revisited and psychedelic RnB, this is the recipe that James Chatburn offers us in Late Night Howling. His album will give you as much emotion as a date with your love of all time. Late Night Howling will warm up your living rooms, giving you a melodic and relaxing atmosphere.

Elfie - Tom Sawyer, credits of the TV series

If you want to go 40 years back in time, Tom Sawyer, our dear friend, is also invited in our selection of the month. Rediscover these cult songs that rocked our ears in the 80s. This vinyl will be perfect to accompany you during a wild game of Laughing Pig or Who's That, or to finish once and for all your Rubik's cube, which has not been solved since the day you received it. For the youngest among you who are reading this article and don't remember the unforgettable lyrics of the credits, there is still time to discover them.

Henri Salvador - Live in Paris

For the more nostalgic ones among you, we propose you the compilation "Live in Paris" of Henry Salvador, without doubt the most formidable animator that France knew. This selection of tracks recorded live between 1956 and 1960 in mythical Parisian venues (Bobino and Alhambra) is part of the great era of his artistic collaboration with Boris Vian and alternates jazz, rock n' roll and calypso tracks. This album, which can be considered a cross between a live album and an embodied document, highlights Salvador's relationship with his audience: a boundless generosity, mixing tenderness and devastating humor.

Lionel Hampton - Essential Works 1953-1954

The best songs of Lionel Hampton, compiled in an exclusive double vinyl! Lionel Hampton or "the Lion" has crossed a century of jazz. Born in 1908 and active until his death in 2002, he not only participated in all the periods of jazz: swing, dance halls, bebop, but he also gave his letters of nobility to the vibraphone and wrote some of the essential pages of jazz. Showman, vibraphonist, drummer, pianist, he embodies jazz for seven decades. It was during his most creative and original period that he recorded the eleven tracks gathered here in September 1953, April 1954 and September 1954, with Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown and Buddy Rich. The combination of high-voltage swing and the lyricism of an outstanding leader make this album an essential part of jazz history.

Tout Dans La Tête - Zoxea

Whether it is with Les Sages Poètes de la Rue, Beat de Boul, IV My People, or even solo, ZOXEA is regularly cited and considered an iconic and driving figure in rap who has always been able to cross eras and set trends with his flow and technicality. "Tout dans la tête" is Zoxea's third solo album released on March 19, 2012. This work, as its name suggests, is not written, but recited by heart like rappers like Notorious B.I.G. This album has 11 tracks, referring to the rapper's fetish number. As we approach the 10th anniversary of its release, Diggers Factory is honored to reissue it for the first time on limited edition vinyl.

Not inspired by our favorites? Don't worry, we have over 120 other projects to offer you in our extensive selection, with new releases like the very RP Zenibuka, strongly inspired by video game soundtracks, the deep electro of Forest Knot, or the powerful jazz of Paris Combo,... Don't hesitate to have a look (and lend an ear) !
