Description
Punchlines was predominantly crafted in Farren's home studio, reflecting the past few years of her life. She has undertaken multiple roles for this project, including production, writing, photography, design, directing, video editing, and campaigning. Without a substantial budget, Farren has learned to execute various tasks independently or with the help of her partner and friends. This effort has pushed Farren into new realms of creativity, ultimately laying a solid foundation for her artistic career and for what has become her debut record, Punchlines (out digitally June 28th).
Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Courtney Farren has spent her life wandering. Having moved more times than she can count, Farren’s lack of a true hometown provides her with a unique perspective. This lifelong journey led her to stages worldwide, from Harlem to Paris, Dublin to Los Angeles. Despite the bulk of her shows being in dive bars and basement venues, in 2018 Farren’s first EP opened doors to showcase at SXSW. Shortly following, in true wanderlust fashion, she found herself living in a remote Croatian Village where she quietly refined her artistry in production and songwriting. Now residing in East Los Angeles with no desire to move, Farren’s Irish and Filipino DNA have made deep roots in a city known for its plurality.
With over a decade of experience writing and honing her craft, Courtney is unapologetically candid about her experiences and is determined to make her mark. When she isn’t busy producing, writing, and creating visuals for her projects, Courtney can be found designing clothes, shooting photos, designing her website, or writing for other artists. One thing is certain, Courtney Farren is only just getting started.
