Description
This debut release of The Taverna Project came about as a series of jams based on several traditional Greek and Turkish songs including covers of George Abdo and Gabor Szabo. The featured players are Kentucky Clawson, Jon Walker, Chet Toner, Ryan Pressman, Stephen Coler, Jim Nelson, and Kanan Morelock.
This first pressing is presented in a classic 1970s gatefold with cover art by Ventura based painter Alyssa Emmons and interior photography by Brendan Davis.
The Taverna Project is a collaborative creation of friends new and old within and around the Lost Beat 6 community based in Ventura, California. The project is an attempt to conduit universal and ancient grooves with improvisations towards the realms of a psychedelic primal state. By exploring these rhythms with more comforting timbres The Taverna Project takes a new and unique approach to create a more transportive kind of music.
