The Burning Paris
United States

The Burning Paris is a post-rock/indie rock band formed in 2001. The original lineup of Nate, Josh, Jenny, Chris, Mike, and Ben released their debut album, 2002’s Coral City Ruin, on Nate and Josh’s label Dopamine Records (Caspian, Bluebird, Akimbo). In 2004, the band released the EP And By December You Will Know Where Your Heart Truly Lies via Magic Bullet Records, before disbanding that same year.
The band's music drew inspiration from a range of genres, including shoegaze, dream pop, and post-rock. Despite their relatively short career, The Burning Paris gained a dedicated following for their atmospheric guitars, haunting cello melodies, and introspective lyrics.
After disbanding, Nate, Josh and Jenny went on to perform under the name On Fire, which also recorded for Magic Bullet Records. Nate then went on to form Eksi Ekso as well as launching Lavinia with Josh.
In 2006, Magic Bullet Records re-released all of The Burning Paris's material on CD, bringing the band's music to a wider audience. The re-release showcased the band's unique sound and earned them a place in the post-rock/indie rock scene.
After a hiatus of more than a decade, The Burning Paris reformed in 2021 with a new lineup that includes Nate on guitar and vocals, Chris on bass, Jenny on cello and keyboards, Jon (Lavinia, Seneca, Caspian) on guitars, Jesse (Land of Fires) on guitars, and Brad (Herra Terra, Seneca, AM/PM) on drums.
In 2022, the band recorded a cover of “Softness, Goodness” by Starflyer 59 and subsequently recorded their new album, Everything is Broken & I Don't Feel a Thing, which was produced and mixed by Ethan Dussault at New Alliance Audio. The album, which is to be released on July 14, 2023 through Pax Aeturnum (LP/Digital) and The Charon Collective (CD), showcases The Burning Paris's unique blend of sounds and textures, soaring cello melodies and emotive guitar lines.
The Burning Paris's unique sound and heartfelt lyrics have earned them a dedicated fan base and cemented their place in the post-rock/indie rock scene. With their new lineup and recent releases, the band is poised to make a strong comeback and continue to inspire fans old and new.
