Description

Founded in 1992, the Mongolian State Morin Khuur Ensemble aims to preserve, promote, and transmit the morin khuur a musical representation of Mongolian history, values and cultural heritage. The Ensemble also aims to augment the artistic standard of Mongolian music through the unique traditional music instrument morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) and professional music performance. In 2003 morin khuur was inscribed on the UNESCO “Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage for Humanity” demonstrates the success of not only creating the instrument but also developing it into a strong traditional cultural heritage. Currently, morin khuur creates from small octave F to the 3rd octave F, however, can reach higher notes.

The Ensemble consists of about 35 professionally trained musicians. The key instrument of the Ensemble is the morin khuur accompanied by traditional instruments such as cello, bass, ever buree (horn), yochin (dulcimer), yatga (zither), classical percussion instruments, flute, and piano. The Ensemble is competent to deliver a wide range of professional, classical, and new music. Their performances took place in many prestige performing venues such as Marinsky Concert Hall /Saint Petersburg, Russia/, Shirakawa Performing Arts Theatre Hall / Shirakawa, Japan /, National Centre for the Performing Arts / Beijing, China /, ITB Opening Ceremony Gala concert /Berlin, Germany/, Berlin Philharmonic /Berlin, Germany/, UN Conference Hall / Geneva, Switzerland /, UNESCO /Paris, France/ and many more.

After more than 30 years of performing professional musical performances, they releasing a 30th-anniversary album including 20 best performances of Mongolian composers. Today their repertoire consists of best works of renowned Mongolian composers S.Gonchigsumlaa, L.Murdorj, B.Damdinsuren, E.Choidog, N.Jantsannorov, B.Sharav, Z.Khangal, Ts.Natsagdorj, B.Munkhbold and also works of emerging young composers Sh.Ulziibayar, Kh.Altangerel, D.Tuvshinsaikhan.

This exclusive album only pressed in total 1000 pcs worldwide only 200 copies from that available outside of the Mongolian market.
