When setting off to write this album in Los Angeles, I wanted to create something that can be a reflection of Carol City, Miami, Florida. It had to be shaped in with soul, bass, and love.
I worked with FNZ and Mickey De Grand on this project, which was its own entire experience–pushing and pulling more out of each other creatively to form something we would like to say really hadn’t existed yet using the sound of R&B with jazz elements, hip-hop, and Miami-inspired narration from the late DJ Uncle Al.
This is my first studio album and part of my legacy, SUGAR HILL EXPRESS.
