Q+Q2 =?
Answer: A Great Bundle Deal!
If you have read the two other promo texts from Modal Q and Experimental Q2, then you already know your Qs and your Q2s. Here is what it’s all about, once again:
Modal Q is the jazz-rock band you have never heard about, but which will blow your minds. You don’t have to believe any stories, or these liner notes. Just listen to audio files, they will speak for themselves: psych-rock, jazz-rock, prog-rock, lots and lots of instrumental noodling (guitar, piano, you name it), complex arrangements, and, last, but definitely not least, well written music.
Experimental Q2 is the band with the name that sounds even more pompous, pretentious, abstract, and, first of all, more ambitious. But Experimental Q2 members do more than simply live up to the hype; they give it a new musical meaning. Pianist (and main composer) Johann German veers towards jazz-rock, in a Keith Jarrett-like approach; no rock sound of the electronic organ. With updated instrumental gear, Valentin Farcaș fully takes on his influences, John McLaughlin and Robert Fripp, to sway with virtuosity between serene passages and lighting-fast roundabout arpeggios on the guitar. Percussionists Vasile Bârsan and Ioan Kovacs, bassist/violonist Johnny Bota, and violonist Peter Franz German not only complete the picture, but give the music a complexity and depth that has seldom been matched in Romanian jazz rock.
Modal Q and Experimental Q2: When you put them together, not only do you get two great bands of Romanian jazz rock and progressive rock from the 1970s and early 1980s, but you also get a great deal to pre-order them together.
And if there is one thing better than great music, then that one thing is more great music. So, what are you waiting for? Double your pre-order and your pleasure to own two gems of complex and virtuosic music from the RSU Series.
