In 2006, the band came in contact with Clive Jones from the 70s band Black Widow. Along with some friends, he had written a tribute tune to Abba titled “Hey You Ring Me Tonight” and offered the Airwaves the song because he thought the band with their two female singers could sound a bit like ABBA.
“Hey You Ring Me Tonight” (featuring Paolo "Apollo" Negri on keyboard) - produced by King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque who also contributed with a closing guitar solo on the track.
Clive Jones also offered the band 2 of his other unreleased songs - now to be released on this vinyl. "Metal Heart" - with Tony Martin from Black Sabbath on lead vocals and "I'm Happy" with John Culley from Black Widow and Cressida on a final guitar solo.
Janne Schaffer (legendary guitarist and internationally best known as ABBA's studio guitarist) finished writing the final part of the own-written song "Saturday Morning" and contributed with a final guitar solo.
The Airwaves - a band that has participated on several Syd Barrett / Pink Floyd tribute discs. Here are 3 of their Syd Barrett / Pink Floyd covers for the first time on vinyl - 2 of them not released before.
On one of them ("Bob Dylan Milky Blues"), the American drummer Buddy Helm (drummer in the 70's band Bethlehem Asylum and who has also recorded with Tim Buckley, Mike Bloomfield and many others) appears on djembe drums with Dimitrov Latchezar (earlier first violinist at the Opera de Nice).
The Airwaves from Sweden are today Sussi Johansson, lead vocals & bass Patrik Arvidsson, guitar and Jimmy Nilsson drums with shifting bandmates from earlier line-ups.
