Botanicalia is Etymology Record’s 3rd compilation album featuring the most authentic lofi pioneers like Saib (1.89Million ML), Odyssee (1.14Million ML), Jinsang (1.5M ML) Jazzinuf (1.5M ML), Sebastian Kamae (1M ML), and many more. What is Botanicalia? In the 70’s there was a Brazilian musical movement called “Tropicalia” where Bossa Nova merged with the genre “Rock” and a new cultural revolution took place in the heart of Brazil. When artists like the Beatles were on the rise in America, traditional Brazilian Bossa Nova artists inherited this genre and made it into its own unique form of art. Similar to this approach, Etymology bridges Tropicalia and Botanicalia, in which the music is influenced by Bossatique moods. The album itself is an audio botanical garden, in which each track represents a special botanical plant/flower.
Established in 2019 and based in New York City, Etymology Records is a musical creative collective that focuses its production on instrumental hip hop music. The musicians of Etymology Records all have one thing in common -- they all follow the formula of making timeless music. Etymology Records aims to make music that caters to all generations, from those who prefer futuristic sounds to those who prefer sounds from the past. Our initial efforts have been focused on building a bridge between hip hop and pre-existing genres that serve as inspiration such as jazz, disco, blues, and even classical. From these efforts a unique combination of musical authenticity and style has been formed. The Etymology of musical style is something we respect as a collective and hope to incorporate in our style of music. Etymology Records has a fan base of 1.1Million Monthly listeners and has a stream count about 31 million plays within a year since its inception.
