Benjamin Gibert ventures into mountains, forests and megacities, searching for secret sounds and ramblings. He harvests sound material in its natural state, using a microphone and a notebook, then he plays to nest, solder, explode and merge sounds. Sound objects sometimes flirt with acoustic and electronic instruments, and form epics, open the doors of invisible lands.
'Gemmes' is a snow fortress, a bud blooming at the end of fall, a sunny and cold morning in the northwest of France.
The cloister of the abbey is a hidden place. It is home to a rich diversity of species and spirits. It is a porous parenthesis in the world. Birds, insects, flowers and brooks around the abbey, are collected and gathered here in the asleep garden in December. The surrounding walls are singing in harmony with this fantastic herbarium, and musical instruments are injected into the sound DNA of birds, plants and insects. This lush interior garden is literally dreaming of a festival at the gates of winter.
