On his debut EP, Rookie, Rey brings together a mix of sounds and influences shaped by the places and cultures that have influenced him, from Florida and Chicago to New York, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Brazil. Blending Brazilian funk, reggaeton, dance, indie pop, and alternative Latin sounds, the project explores a cheeky, flirtatiously confident take on Latin pop. Created alongside friends and collaborators DJ GAY-Z, Cesar Robles, and NIKOKATANA, Rookie is a playful introduction to Rey’s artistic identity, bringing together diverse rhythms, underground influences, and a fearless approach to pop. As the first swing at bat in a growing catalog of future releases, the EP sets the tone for what’s next.
Born in Venezuela and shaped by Florida, Rey is an artist driven by a deep curiosity for music. Drawn to genre-bending sounds, he enjoys weaving Latin pop, Brazilian funk, reggaeton, dance, dembow, and indie pop into a sound that is playful, confident, and entirely his own. Outside of music, things like aviation, theme parks, and video games all feed into his creative world. His debut EP, Rookie, is the first glimpse into his vibrant, evolving sonic world.
