Kenji, the multifaceted artist known for his introspective lyrics and genre-bending soundscapes, has released his highly anticipated EP titled "Distractions." With this project, he delves into the intricacies of dealing with pain through various forms of escapism, offering listeners a poignant journey through seven distinct tracks.
In "Distractions," each song serves as a window into Kenji's psyche, showcasing the diverse ways he copes with his deepest thoughts and pains. Produced by Kenji himself, alongside talented composers such as Nicolas Axel Kauffman, Dutch Revz, and In Bloom, the EP presents a rich tapestry of sound, with diverse genres from indie-pop to R&B. "Paystubs" is the only collaboration on the EP featuring artist Xedrin, one of the artists that knows kenji’s psyche best. From the melancholic melodies of "Strangers" to the electronic hyper-melodies of “Hold Me” each song offers a unique perspective on the theme of distraction.
Since June of 2023, Kenji has been unveiling the songs from "Distractions" one by one, captivating audiences with his emotive storytelling and evocative production. The EP encapsulates a range of emotions, from sorrow and anger to love and longing, in an attempt to resonate with listeners on a deeply personal level.
To celebrate the release of "Distractions," Kenji will be performing at various venues across California throughout 2024, treating audiences to an immersive sonic experience. With its melancholy undertones and nostalgic vibe, the EP promises to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression.

✦Kenji✦ represents Evolution. Though the origins
of his name remains a mystery, the purpose
behind his Alternative genre-bending sound is to
help people escape from the monotony of the real
world. He describes his self-produced songs as
"solar systems built so troubled people can
vacate."
Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kenji recently
moved to Los Angeles, California in order to break
the monotonous feeling, and to pursue his dreams
of communicating through his art with other
artists in LA, Including Buppy., Xedrin, Dxcklin,
Jordan Everett, and Eleanor Kingston.
Each of Kenji’s songs contain a piece of his mind—
whether that piece be positive or negative—and
though he connects with his cult-like following
prominently through his somber, emotion filled
music, his versatility is demonstrated throughout
an assortment of unique skits, with heavy-hitting
underground artists. His spacial, ambient beats
paired with punchy, raw vocls create a sound that
will bring you to a place that seems eerily
nostalgic.
