LAMBETHNOTLA has finally arrived – South West London rapper, Ceebo's first
mixtape, and a huge milestone in the young artist's budding career. As his debut real body of work outside of an EP, clocking in at 11 tracks, he and several collaborators such as DJXHNWAV, JEDSOUL, JayDottCee and more, crafted a true melting pot of distinctly London sounds, from bassy and soulful grooves rooted in R&B and afrobeats, to an alternative take on the long standing heritage of South London’s road rap scene. All this serves as a backdrop to the lyrical machinations of Ceebo’s imagination and his conception of his native borough: Lambeth. The mixtape is dedicated to portraying his experience in Lambeth in equal parts beautiful and harrowing as long as everything between, which due to his mastery of the tenets of rapping as it pertains to storytelling, flow, and wordplay, he’s able to achieve without a hitch. The fan favourites MEMORY LANE and MATANGA stand as testaments to the refreshing nature of Ceebo’s content and execution of conveying thoughts to the audience.
For a rapper that most casual fans would consider relatively unknown, LAMBETHNOTLA represents the likelihood that this will not remain the case for much longer. From viral clips at Balamii to looks from DJs at Reprezent and Capital Xtra, the industry is taking notice. Other noticeable cosigns of what LAMBETHNOTLA and by extension Ceebo means for UK rap at the time of writing include Jim Legxacy, Len, Jordy, Mimi The Music Blogger and Chuckie Online. Ceebo was also featured as one of 9bills’ ‘Snapshot Stars: artists to look out for in 2024.’
