The fifth installment in Packy Lundholm's annual TRACK SABBATH series adds a new writing challenge to his breakneck-paced album creation method.
For the uninitiated, TRACK SABBATH is an album made in just about as close to real time as a one-man-band can do it. Over the first two weeks of January Packy will:
-Write, record, mix, and release a song
-for 10 days.
Is it an unhealthy pace and a colossal gamble on artistic gumption and public good will that may crash and burn at any fragile moment? Sure.
Is it a whole lot of fun? You bet!
As for the writing challenge on Volume 5: Each song's theme/setting/characters/overall metaphor/etc will be determined by a randomly generated Wikipedia article. Packy will go live on Facebook each morning to refresh the generator and prove that he isn't cherry picking articles for inspirado. Each song will be given its own freeform title, but it will have the article name tacked on in (parentheses).
And the extra fun angle: This will be the first TRACK SABBATH edition to be released on vinyl!
NOTE: As this album will be created "live" within the course of this pre-order campaign, there are no song titles and no official artwork to present yet. Packy will update these accordingly as quickly as possible, or at the very least upon completion of the album.
For those not already following along on my socials, each track will be released as a static-image video on Packy's Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube pages.
Thank you for your preorder, by extension expressing your faith in a record that does not yet exist!
Packy Lundholm is a Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist/producer/studio guy/occasional songwriter. The requisite name-dropping portion of his bio would contain such acts as Theo Katzman, May Erlewine, Woody Goss(/Woody and Jeremy), Woman Believer, I Fight Dragons, and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Sometimes he takes time when not helping other people make stuff to make his own stuff.
