When setting off to write this album in Los Angeles, I wanted to create something that can be a reflection of Carol City, Miami, Florida. It had to be shaped in with soul, bass, and love.
I worked with FNZ and Mickey De Grand on this project, which was its own entire experience–pushing and pulling more out of each other creatively to form something we would like to say really hadn’t existed yet using the sound of R&B with jazz elements, hip-hop, and Miami-inspired narration from the late DJ Uncle Al.
This is my first studio album and part of my legacy, SUGAR HILL EXPRESS.
Twelve'len is an independent R&B artist heavily inspired by Al Green and 50 Cent alike with South Florida roots. Throughout the years, he has modeled for a Comme des Garçons editorial, recorded an exclusive track for GAP x Pigeons & Planes, starred in a mini-documentary produced by Red Bull, toured with Jameson Whiskey across the nation, and joined frequent collaborator Denzel Curry on Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep tour. Twelve also directed Denzel Curry's "Ricky" video which has amassed almost 30M views. Most recently, Twelve partnered with Nike for the Jordan 1’s “Rebellionaire” campaign and has an original song debuting in an upcoming Jamie Foxx movie slated to drop on Netflix this summer.
