Out of the Noise' is the debut album from NJ-based singer-songwriter and producer, Scrawny (Jesse Dill). Aptly named, 'Out of the Noise' is a wildly catchy, yet unpredictable set of sounds that stand out from the typical pop formula. Fully produced and mixed by Dill, the album contains alternative pop influences from AJR to Twenty One Pilots and Coldplay, while incorporating aspects of alternative rock, hip-hop, folk and electronic music. It's a circus of ideas, flowing between bubblegum optimism over life and fatherhood, to deeply moving concerns of individuality, self-love and self-care.
“'Out of the Noise' is the soundtrack of the last two years of my life. These songs were my way of working through my feelings and my struggles with mental exhaustion, self doubt, insecurities and stress. Instead of allowing the anxiety to overwhelm me, I took that pain and channeled it into creating this album.
Each song is a window into my life, my brain and my heart. And rather than crafting songs that only focused on the negative side of my struggles, I also strove to put a positive and optimistic twist on these serious topics of bullying and mental health. I hope that when people listen to this music, it'll make them feel like they’ll be ok. I hope these songs connect with you, and I hope they can help to pull you out of the noise too.”
“Scrawny” was a name that Jesse Dill was called growing up. Instead of giving it power, he embraced the nickname, made it his own, and used it to form a theme around his music. Focusing on mental health, self-care, and finding worth within, Dill writes lyrics that feel real and relevant. His songs act as an outlet for emotions, and are meant to extend a connection - a helping hand - to anyone who finds meaning in them.
His adventure as Scrawny began as an excitement and energy around creating fresh pop music. Largely influenced by the music of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Coldplay, Twenty Øne Pilots and AJR, Scrawny tracks remain inherently pop, while incorporating aspects of folk, alternative rock, hip-hop, and electronic music.
While taking most of 2022 to produce for bedroom-pop singer-songwriter Madilyn Mei, he produced a new, exciting version of her viral hit “The Chapel,” entitled “Six Legs (tippy tappy toes).”
With his debut album release in sight (details forthcoming), Scrawny is on a journey, and he just hopes to find some friends along for the ride.
