Desbert Johnson aka CHEZIDEK was born on June 20, 1973 in Jamaica. He began singing first at school gigs and became a member of the St Ann's Bay Marching Band.
Since 2002, and his first album Harvest Time released on the Xterminator label, Chezidek has continued to grow. Author of several hits, "Leave The Trees" (2004), "Call Pon Dem" (2007), "Bun Di Ganja" (2008) or the essential "All MyLife"(2013) which totals nearly 40 million views on YouTube, the Jamaican from St Ann's Bay has worked with big names in reggae. From Sly & Robbie veterans to the most contemporary, Capleton, Lutan Fyah or Mark Wonder. The release in 2007 of his 4th opus Inna Di Road on Greensleeves will open the doors to prestigious stages, from Jamaica to the United States via Europe. One of his songs can even be found in the famous GTA video game.
Chezideks will release his 14th album entitled NEVERSTOP on April 14, 2023 on CD, LP and digital formats. Produced by Irie Ites Records, this opus will definitively seal the
collaboration between the artist and the French label.
Indeed, Chezidek and Irie Ites know each other very well because their meeting goes back to 2001 during a trip in Jamaica. Since this date, several singles produced by Irie Ites were released such as the hit "Bun Di Ganja" with more than 1.2M views on Youtube and more than 7.5M streams on Spotify but also the tracks " Who I Am ", "Mr Officer", "Friday Night" and many others. Composed of 13 tracks and 5 dubs, this album will surely mark the career of the artist as one of his best albums. On the music side, the
instrumentals are played by big names in reggae such as Mafia & Fluxy, Roots Radics, Earl Chinna Smith, Dean Fraser, Bongo Herman, The Ligerians, combination with the famous Trinidadian singer Queen Omega for a burning and energetic track and the famous Mr. Officer" in combination with King Lorenzo on the emblematic instrumental version of
Naram, Russ D or Irie Ites.
