Description

"Somewhere between a fractured Richard Swift style wall of sound and the twang fumes of a Lynchian cabaret...Harrisonian guitar and chords...the voice that melts within the arrangement. A major talent that breaks through to take possession of the stage and, hopefully, never leave it again" - 5 star Review, Rock N' Folk (France)

Coco Reilly is the timeless self titled debut album and realised vision of a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and film composer whose artful songcraft, studio perfectionism and avant — garde imagination has led her to produce her debut album on vinyl for the first time.

Coco Reilly is an accomplished reinterpretation of wall of sound era pop classicism and vintage rock and roll. It’s shimmering acoustics, fuzzed out guitar solos and kaleidoscopic arrangements are the perfect balance of gloss and lo-fi. The album showcases Reilly’s elegant vocals - part majestic noir lament and sweet breathy sparkle - sharing stories of self discovery. Reilly's songs are memos to herself and affirmations to the world around her. Accept you can’t always control your emotions. Relinquish control and accept where you are, and be true, no matter who surrounds you.

A labor of love, the record went through multiple incarnations and was recorded three different times before Reilly eventually achieved her sonic vision. She performed guitar, flute and produced alongside Jerry Bernhardt (Erin Rae, Andrew Combs) who also contributed guitar, keys, and multiple other talents, alongside Dom Billet (drums), Ian Ferguson (Guitars) and Will Brown (Keys). Recorded by Grammy award winning engineer Jeremy Ferguson (Cage The Elephant) at Battle Tapes studio in Nashville, in the spring of 2019. Reilly moved to LA to plan it’s release which was further delayed by unrealized label enthusiasm. She took a trip to Iceland to develop her film compositions, then the pandemic hit. The new environment gave her fresh perspective and she was compelled to release these personal songs into the world, following her own advice, that your biggest challenge can also be your most important catalyst for change.
