In 2007 Dakota Suite released ‘Waiting for the dawn to Crawl through and take away your life’. This record came after a 4 year break where the band’s main songwriter and creative force, Chris Hooson, had considered himself done with music. This return to commercially releasing music was met with critical acclaim. This record was only ever released on CD and this marks the first release on vinyl. This will be a remixed and remastered version of this long loved fan favourite.
Formed in Leeds during a particularly melancholy 1996, Chris Hooson and David Buxton have set about making both singer songwriter and ambient / cinematic soundscapes since the beginning.
They do this with varying degrees of success.
The band has toured with only slight vigour across Europe and Japan. The music of Dakota Suite has featured in mainstream cinema, art house cinema and also TV.
"In 2007 I decided to make a new record after 3 years not being able to communicate with the outside world. I had decided that I needed to speak again musically, and that it was the only way I could really manage my complicated inner world, by making sense of it through conveying my darkness through song. The resulting record was called ‘waiting for the dawn to crawl through and take away your life’.
This music was only ever available on CD, and now I am hoping that this record will finally live on vinyl. But I can only do it with your help." Chris Hooson (dakota suite)
