'ARIYO' is Nigerian-America Yoruba-soulful-folk singer-songwriter 6th album. The album is dedicated to my son, Ariyo (A Sight to Rejoice). Borrowing some mindful words from his favorite revolutionaries, Malcolm X, Langston Huges ..., KUKU presents a suite of songs led by his haunting voice, percussive guitar rhythms, and multi-lingual songwriting. These are the songs KUKU wrote during the times of his birth of his son, and furthermore lessons he hopes he will live by.
Nigerian-American singer-songwriter KUKU bridges the gap between his Yoruba roots and the western world. His haunting multi-octave voice, folky sounds, and conscious songwriting are often mentioned in context with some of his diverse influences.
'Ariyo' is KUKU's 6th studio album. The 16 track album features singer Shola Adisa-Farrar, Rhodes piano contribution by Brian Jackson, best known for his 70s era collaborations with the late Gil Scott Heron. The album also features sampled voices from distinguished sociopolitical revolutionaries.
