OAKK is the brainchild of Vancouver-based singer, producer, and multidisciplinary artist Cole Edwards. Self-described as “sad boy R&B meets electronica,” OAKK channels personal experiences and emotions into melodic soundscapes that offer escapism from the mundane. His music moves between melancholy and euphoria, blending emotive songwriting with experimental electronic production to create something that feels both intimate and transportive.
OAKK first gained wider recognition with the release of ‘Butter & Gold’ on Ivy Lab’s TW/TW London imprint in late 2022. Built around the mantra “I just wanna say how I feel about you,” the track caught the attention of industry legend Gilles Peterson, earning a place on his Best of the Year shortlist. With continued releases on TW/TW London, collaborations with the label heads, and a catalogue that moves fluidly across electronic music and emotive songwriting, OAKK continues to push the boundaries of emotionally driven electronic music.
In 2024, OAKK released I Made This For You, a deeply personal album exploring the relationship between memory, emotion, and music. The project showcased his ability to weave introspective songwriting with atmospheric production, establishing a foundation for the evolving sound of his work. His latest album, Dreams & Diversions, continues this exploration, expanding his sonic palette and reflecting a new chapter in his artistic direction.
His live performances have taken him to prominent festivals including Lightning in a Bottle, Shambhala, Okeechobee, and Bass Coast, as well as Boiler Room, and he has supported Ivy Lab on both of their Infinite Falling Ground US tour. Blending a deeply personal approach to songwriting with a constantly evolving electronic sound, OAKK continues to carve out his own space at the intersection of music, emotion, and experimentation.
