Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Polo Sho is a Rapper, community leader, and a stakeholder in the local arts and entertainment community. Formerly known as Shosho, since the age of nine Polo Sho has aspired to be a rapper and moved to Calgary with his family at age fifteen. In the summer of 2017 Polo underwent heart surgery to repair a bad valve caused by a congenital disease. While in recovery at the hospital he started making beats on his laptop with FL Studio and adopted the new name Polo Sho, inspired by the Venetian explorer Marco Polo. Polo’s goal as an artist, and in life is to create a positive impact with all of his pursuits. His goal is to leave a legacy not just on the Hip-hop genre but on the human race. To date Polo has released four mixtapes; two collaborative albums and 2021 full length LP Determination – A project co-funded by the ATB Boostr program where he raised $5,000, gaining attention from local press including CTV News. He’s been an opener for several big Hip-Hop shows in Calgary. In 2021 Polo opened the full-time professional recording studio Solace Studios in Northeast Calgary. He continues to be an advocate of the arts community, through event curation, providing accessible podcast production services to small businesses while simultaneously pursuing his own creative ventures. Polo completed recording his sophomore album “Somewhere the Midnight Burns” at Solace in Summer of 2022 and it was released September 1st 2023. Fans praised the album for being Polo's most vulnerable writing to date. On the night of the release Polo hosted a successful album release show at The Attic Bar & Stage in Calgary. Polo will be releasing the deluxe edition of “Somewhere the Midnight Burns” March 1st 2024 on streaming platforms as well as a limited double album vinyl pressing of 100 copies through Diggers Factory.
