Night three of King Gizzard's 2023 Chicago residency immortalized across 3 discs of "Hot Puddle" blue and white A/B vinyl, plus a special 7”! Fully custom whimsical vintage psychedelic illustration featuring King Gila himself and liner note presentation with Morton Salt theming makes this release truly one-of-a-kind.

It was not at all clear that the show would happen on night three as the rain poured just after gates opened. Fans huddled inside the venue, anticipation built for the oncoming storm of a show – and what a show it was. King Gila reigned supreme in the metal opening run, followed by a tongue-in-cheek Plastic Boogie to a poncho-clad crowd. The boys tore into a rousing Hot Water that melted seamlessly into Hypertension. The pace stayed lively through This Thing and Magenta Mountain, leading up to the live debut of Change. The mood changed for The Garden Goblin, complete with the full Bunnings backstory, before tearing into a Dripping Tap that perfectly closed out a very wet run, indeed.

Shan Horan is a cartoonist and illustrator based in Southern California. They originally hail from New Hampshire, where they saw their first Gizz show back in 2016. Shan primarily works in the animation industry, but dedicates their free time to collecting records as a hobby, playing video games, and exploring nature. Their personal highlights from this residency include the entire back half of Night 1 from Satan Speeds Up to Boogieman Sam, Rattlesnake > Honey, Down the Sink, and Shanghai from N2, and Plastic Boogie, This Thing, and Change debut from N3.

Ezra Gray is a designer and illustrator from the Boston area, who spends their days in the thrift store pricing records and antiques, and their nights making extensive unofficial cartoons and bootlegs for their favorite bands. Gizzard took over their brain in 2020 after being a casual fan for a few years, and they have since been to many of their concerts all over the US. Personal highlights from the Chicago recordings include Boogieman Sam’s classic blues references, and the Change debut!

Mark Lorden is an engineer and music enthusiast based in Southern California. He also grew up in New Hampshire, but has never seen Gizz there. His long-term goal is to stand up an artist-focused media organization, for which this release is the first step. Personal highlights from this Chicago run include Gaia > Motor Spirit > Great Chain of Being>Gaia, The River, Self-Immolate, Hot Water > Hypertension, and the Change debut.
