Nominated for a Swiss Music Award in the category of Best Act Romandie, it has taken ROOTWORDS four years, to this day, to deliver his second album titled Warning Signs (Kinyama
Records / Differ-Ant / IDOL), concocted with the musicians of The Block Notes, the live band who accompany him on stage.

After The Rush, his first album released in March 2014, and numerous concerts in the four corners
of the world (Peru, Swaziland, South Africa, Zambia, China, Switzerland, France, etc.), ROOTWORDS, with pure sincerity, veered to express his sentiments of the world. His travel experiences has permitted him to take the back seat in relation to certain re-accruing subjects in hip-hop, keeping his ego at bay, while focusing on more real and profound reflections.

The instrumentals in Warning Signs are intricately fabricated, rich in sound, profound and intense, in the image of what the artist himself has become. He adapts his rhymes and flows doing justice to the unconstrained “beats”, composed by the Block Notes, with the occasional help of Swiss producer Yvan Peacemaker (“A Matter of Time”, the frst single revealed in December 2017).

On this project, ROOTWORDS chose to invite two artists that he had met along his musical and cultural journey : the Chinese freestyle champion J-Fever and the avant-garde Durban South African Robin Thirdfoor, from Umlazi – the fourth largest township in South Africa.

This new album is a concentration of energy and sincerity, a beacon to the illusions and lies perpetrated by man, and it is on the stage that ROOTWORDS intends to proclaim his vision of the world, by spontaneous communication that is alive and rich in vibrations. Ring the alarm !

Nominé aux Swiss Music Awards dans la catégorie Best Act Romandie, il aura fallu quatre années à ROOTWORDS, presque jour pour jour, pour nous livrer son deuxième album intitulé Warning Signs (Kinyama Records / Differ-Ant / IDOL), concocté avec les musiciens de The Block Notes, le live band qui l’accompagne sur scène.

Après The Rush, son premier album sorti en mars 2014, et de nombreux concerts aux quatre coins du monde (Pérou, Swaziland, Afrique du Sud, Zambie, Chine, Suisse, France, etc.), ROOTWORDS exprime avec sincérité son ressenti sur le monde. Ses nombreux voyages lui ont permis de prendre de la distance par rapport à certains sujets récurrents du hip-hop, mettant à distance l’égotrip auquel il a pu goûter plus tôt dans sa carrière, et mettant en avant des questions et des combats plus profonds.

Les instrumentations sont particulièrement travaillées, riches en sonorités, profondes et intenses, à l’image de ce que l’artiste est lui-même devenu. Il adapte ses flows et ses textes avec justesse sur des « instrus » désinhibées, composées par les Block Notes, avec parfois l’aide du producteur helvète emblématique Yvan Peacemaker (« A Matter of Time », premier single révélé en décembre 2017).

Sur ce projet, ROOTWORDS a souhaité inviter deux artistes rencontrés au gré de ses voyages musicaux et culturels : le champion de freestyle chinois J-Fever et le rappeur avant-gardiste sud-africain Robin Thirdfloor, originaire d’Umlazi, le township de Durban en Afrique du Sud.

L’album Warning Signs est un concentré d’énergie et de sincérité, un cri d’alarme aux illusions et aux mensonges perpétrés par l’homme, et c’est sur scène que ROOTWORDS compte bien défendre sa vision du monde, dans une communion spontanée et riche en vibrations.

Gerade wurde er für den Swiss Music Award in der Kategorie Best Act Romandie nominiert, jetzt legt ROOTWORDS mit seinem zweiten Album Warning Signs (Kinyama Records / Differ-Ant / IDOL) nach. Zusammen mit der Band Block Notes, mit denen er auch auftritt, hat er vier Jahre an diesem Album gearbeitet.

Der Vorgänger The Rush erschien im März 2014, es folgten Konzerte in allen Ecken der Erde, in Peru, Swaziland, Südafrika, Sambia, China, Schweiz, Frankreich... ROOTWORDS wollte seine aufrichtigen Gefühle mit dem Rest der Welt teilen. Seine Erfahrungen auf diesen Reisen ermöglichen ihm, sein Ego mal in den Hintergrund treten zu lassen, sich mit anderen Dingen zu beschäftigen, als es Hiphop so oft tut und sich mit wichtigeren, tieferen Einsichten zu beschäftigen.

Die Instrumentals auf Warning Signs sind raffiniert und verwickelt, reich an Klängen, tiefsinning und intensiv: ganz wie ROOTWORDS selbst also. Seine Rhymes und Flows passen sich diesen freien "Beats" an, die von den Block Notes mit gelegentlicher Unterstützung des schweizer Produzenten Yvan Peaceaker ("A Matter of Time", die erste Single vom Dezember 2017) komponiert wurden.

Für dieses Projekt hat ROOTWORDS zwei Künstler eingeladen, die er auf seinen musikalischen und kulturellen Reisen getroffen hat: der chinesische Freestyle-Champ J-Fever und der Avant-Garde Musiker Robin Thirdfloor aus Umlazi in Durban, dem viertgrößten Township in Südafrika.

Auf dem neuen Album sind Energie und Ernsthaftigkeit gebündelt, ein Schlachtruf im Kampf gegen die Illusionen und Lügen, die von Menschen erzählt werden. Auf dieser großen Bühne will ROOTWORDS seine Vision von der Welt verkünden und das Publikum mit seinen Botschaften nicht nur erreichen, sondern auch in Schwingungen versetzen. Ring the alarm!
